Dedicated to support and showcase arts and artists inspired by Indonesia, Four Seasons Hotel Jakarta invites both local and international artists to showcase their works around the hotel lobby area. Aiming to support Indonesian art and its talented local artists, Four Seasons Hotel Jakarta regularly invites Indonesian artists to collaborate in a solo or joint exhibition; however we also give International artists the opportunity to showcase their art works in the hotel. Periodically, more than 50 original paintings and photographs from local and international artists are artistically displayed around the hotel Lobby area to Seasons Café.
Entering the month of August and to celebrate 69th Indonesia’s Independence Day, Four Seasons Hotel Jakarta is collaborating with Farid Shan, a talented Indonesian artist for “Ekspresi Estetika Rakyat dalam Kanvas – Aesthetic Expression of People on Canvas”, a solo painting exhibition by Farid Shan from 12th – 31st August 2014.
Farid aspired to be a painter since early in his childhood. He started to learn painting at the age of 9 years old from his grandfather. Farid then joined Sanggar Bambu Yogyakarta under the guidance of Bapak Soemadji to continue to learn painting professionally. He has been actively holds single or joint exhibitions inIndonesiaand abroad since 1987.
In 1990, Farid was selected to representIndonesiain the International Exhibition Art of Graphic and Painting inKyoto,Japan. Farid was also chosen to create sketches of humanity in several African countries in 2011. Farid’s paintings stress more on reflecting real life, full of tenacity, motion, colour and soul. Farid hopes that his 18th solo exhibition held in Four Seasons Hotel Jakarta can add more richness to the color of Indonesian art world.
